WEB.ec Update
New standard pages available free for you to download.
One of the key benefits of these new pages results from the use of "style sheet" technology. Style sheets enable you to easily change the colors and fonts on your pages without having to use any HTML design tool with only basic HTML knowledge required.
Some of the other new features incorporated into these new pages include:
- A link back to the search options from the search results page
- Replace all jpeg images with buttons
- Low stock messages now display in product box
- Shipping section enlarged to accommodate more detailed addresses
- Sectioned off the Variable Print items on all the product catalog pages
For more information on these new pages, please contact Kevin.carver@topform.com.
Edit Suite Now Available for TopForm Variable Print
The newly-developed Edit Suite is being provided to TopForm Variable Print users free of charge and requires no other third party software other than the typical graphic design programs that you probably already have installed. These programs allow you to set up your own variable print items.
The steps required are simple and straightforward.
First, you make a roux……
(Just kidding. If you know what a roux is, you probably know who wrote this article. If you don't, it is a mixture of fat and flour used to thicken a sauce, and "First, you make a roux" was the title of a popular cookbook of New Orleans recipes.) So back to the Variable Print…..
First, you open the art file in Adobe Indesign or Quark.
Change the variable text to anonymous information and save as your "sample.jpg".
This is the image that your customer will see when they first request the product. |
|
|
Open the original art file once again.
This time, remove all the variable text
Save this in ".pdf" format as your "Logo" file. |
Open the Art file, one last time and remove all the static items (the logo, etc).
Replace the remaining text with their respective tags.
(See documentation for details regarding tags and fonts).
Save the remaining text in .pdf format to your "Variable" file. |
 |
|
|
Now, you need to set up the business rules. The business rules control the movement of variable text within a specific ordering instance. For example, a business card might accommodate three address lines. If there are only two, how should the remainder of fields move, if at all.
Voila`! Actually, making a roux is a lot harder, however, if you prefer we will still be happy to provide the service of setting up your variable print objects for you. Contact Jean.Dudek@topform.com for more information.

TopForm Support
With more and more use of email as a method of communication, we are finding more frequent instances where TopForm users are sending support requests to specific TopForm personnel via email. This can result in delayed responses to your questions and issues. First, the person may be out of the office due to illness or vacation or they may be out of town, attending training sessions or meetings. They may be working on a special development project or testing and therefore be out of the support pool. All of these circumstances would cause your support issue to hang in limbo when some other TopForm representative could have assisted you.
In order to better serve you, we would like to request that you enter your
support requests directly into our support system at www.topform.com/support/index.shtml.
If you have attachments, you can send those to attachments@topform.com.
Enter the reference number as the subject line. The support representative
that picks up your call will be able to retrieve the attachment. Or, if
you prefer, you can call our support line a 770 239-7777 so that we can
enter the call for you.
Thank you for helping us serve you better.
Customer Spotlight - Diversified Business Forms
Since 1969, Diversified Business Forms of Luzerne, PA has been providing its clients with outstanding customer service. Lisa DeAngelo, Operations Manager, stated, "Our customer service speaks for itself. We have never advertised in our 33 years of operation but our business has continued to thrive and grow to the point where we are a $6 million print distributor. We have grown because of our reputation as a provider of great customer service." Lisa tells of a story that happened at DBF that highlights their desire to please their customers. "We received a call from a Union representative frantic because they had run out of paychecks. We had one of our employees contact Wise Business Forms then drive a 10 hour round trip to pick up the checks and bring them back. We saved the representative's job and he has remained grateful."
Not only does DBF make customer service a priority but also providing the latest in technology. "We searched 2 years to find the right software provider," said Lisa. "I always had my eye on TopForm and watched as they evolved with Web.ec. TopForm's track record of success with the industry's largest distributors was also very appealing. We're excited to go live with TopForm and watch it grow with our business."
Diversified Business Forms is just that…diversified. They service several vertical markets including health care, financial, industrial, insurance, utilities, and food service. With 15 employees they provide forms management and pick-n-pack services. Lisa commented that the future is bright for DBF and they will continue to research better products and services to provide their clients. You can find further information about DBF on their website at www.dbf-forms.com. Congratulations to Diversified Business Forms as one of TopForm's newest customers!
Product Category Setup Enhancement
As you know, TopForm Web.ec enables you to categorize your clients’ products
on the Product Catalog Pages. There are two methods you could use. You
could designate that the products be categorized by Product Code or by the
Function field in the Form Master File. Using the product code was easy,
but might not provided the level of organization for the products that you
ultimately desired for your customers. The Function field provided
complete flexibility, but required you to enter a code on every item within
your customers' form masterfile.
TopForm has a new feature to enhance the use of the Product Codes for
categorizing your product catalogs. There is a new option, U5, on the ECS
menu. This option allows you to map product codes to up to five category
codes. By using this new enhancement, you can combine multiple product
codes into one category. Or use it to include certain products into the “My
Catalog” or the “All” category.
Steps to Using:
1. Set up mappings for ALL of you product codes (Option E/C, SM, U5)
2. That is it! When you generate a catalog using the catalog loading utility
(Option E/C, C3), with the product code as the source, webec will use your
category mappings for placement of the item in your new catalog.
