Win A Trip to New Orleans!
TopForm will again be showcasing the latest enhancements to the software at this year's DMIA Inform Services Conference being held October 15-17 in Rosemont, IL. You can find us at Booth 108, the very first booth as you enter the exhibit hall. Many of you will be shocked to hear that we are going with a Mardi Gras theme (makes you believe that someone from our company is from New Orleans)! The booth will be splashed with purple, green and gold with plenty of beads to go around. That's just the start however. We are also giving away a trip for two to New Orleans! Some lucky winner will enjoy a weekend getaway to the city known for its exquisite cuisine, Old World charm and outstanding jazz music. How do you register? You will automatically be registered if you purchase a qualified module between October 15 - December 31, 2002.

TopForm Web.ec Adds Support for Multiple Catalogs
Web.ec has, since the beginning, supported multiple categories. This meant that your customers could choose products that were organized either by product code or by function.
Now TopForm Web.ec offers even more flexibility. Today your pages can have a drop down box for multiple catalogs and within those catalogs, multiple categories.
Consider the following example.
Instead of having a single catalog that has categories:
- Your Custom Forms
- Promotional Items / Ad Specialties
- Printer Supplies
- Filing Supplies
You could now have a sub-category. For instance, if you customer chooses Printer supplies, they would then be presented with another dropdown list, for example:
- Toner
- Ribbons
- Ink Cartridges
Shared Products Feature
In many cases you may have a customer that you need to give access to ordering products across other customers in your TopForm system. In one example, you could generate a catalog based on each of the customer's products and then assign these catalogs to the appropriate buyers. When ordering is done, the order will be issued under the customer to which the buyer is associated but the product will be released from (or ordered using) the customer associated with the item.
Assignment Methods
With this new feature, you will have the ability to assign up to 18 catalogs to a single buyer. The 18 catalogs can be assigned as follows:
- Customer: 5 catalogs
- Buyer: 10 catalogs
- Code: 3 catalogs
Customer Assignments (E/C-S2)
- Five (5) permanent catalog assignments may be made at the customer level. The buyers associated with this customer will automatically inherit these catalogs.
- Buyer Assignment (E/C-S4)
Ten (10) permanent catalog assignments may be made at the buyer level.
- Code Assignments (E/C-C7)
Code assignments of a catalog allow you to assign a catalog to a class of customers, buyers or both. Then all of the customer or buyers automatically inherit the catalog. Perhaps there are products that you would want to offer to all of your health care customers and other products that you would want to offer to all of your banking customers.
The code methods include:
- A/R Customer Category (ie. Financial Institutions)
- Buyer Category (Purchasing Agent, On-Line Buyer, etc.)
- Buyer Category within a Single Customer (only Purchasing Agents within customer 00500)
If you would like assistance is taking advantage of this new feature on your Web.ec pages, please contact TopForm support.
Support For Stock Items in Web.ec - Coming soon
The following features associated with Stock Item Support are currently in field testing:
- creation of purely stock catalogs
- addition of stock items into existing custom catalogs (manually using C2)
- support for quantity breaks and pricing tables
- FROM field for custom forms
- custom forms flagged as stock
If you would be interested in testing Stock Item support on your development site, please contact TopForm Support.
New Enhancement - HTML Reports
This new feature in the software allows any TopForm report or continuous style form to be printed or viewed in HTML format. This gives you the opportunity to view reports directly on your PC or to generate a report on a web server for viewing over the Internet through a web browser. These HTML reports are user-friendly in terms of searching for the exact information you need. The data can be found by using the Search function in the browser. You can also go directly to the end of the report for report totals by a simple click of a button. The report can be saved, printed or emailed with ease. In the output options, the appropriate printer is selected and the reports prints like normal. If the HTML is to be viewed, your default browser will pop up at the end of the report and show the results. If the file is not shown, then the file will be generated and the operator will be returned to the menu.
Contact TopForm Support for further details.
Did you know...
That you can enter "NOSTOP" in the Job Card Data field in your report printer options and when viewing the report to your screen, the report will scroll and stop only at the end so that you can view report totals.
Customer Spotlight - Docusource Print Management
It's a family affair. Docusource Print Management, a print distributorship in Portland, Oregon, started its operations in 1970 under the helm of Tim Curtin. Like so many distributors around the country, they started with humble beginnings but now packs a powerful punch in the great northwest. In 1980, Tim tried recruiting his brother John to join forces and oversee the operational side of the business. John was already on a successful management tract with a national company so he felt it might be risky to join a small company like DPM in spite of his brother's success.
After Tim made one of his best "sales" presentations however, John teamed up with his brother. Their success since has been DPM's success. They now run a $6 million operation with 22 employees and the company continues to grow.
One of the reasons for DPM's continued growth is the company's versatility. Through the years they have diversified their product offering and their end user base. DPM now sells anything from traditional forms to commercial print, electronic forms, ad specialties, fulfillment, forms processing and more to verticals such as the healthcare, retail, manufacturing and hospitality industries. John believes one of the reasons they will continue to be successful in the future is their adaptability, "Documents and technologies are merging from inception to print delivery and archival…the methods of design, production, delivery and processing are becoming tightly woven and will become even more so…we intend to adapt along with it."
TopForm will also play a major role in their adaptability to the industry changes. John went on to say, "Our customers have and continue to look to us for solutions…part of our document management program is to streamline the procurement process…we are looking forward to the efficiencies afforded by online ordering via Web.ec." Another reason to believe that DPM will be well positioned for the future is their approach to their customers, "As we look at document management from a global viewpoint, we will have in place programs and technologies to efficiently handle our clients needs however complex. At the same time never losing the "local" feel and response that we have employed throughout the years of business," John said. Continued success from all of us at TopForm!
